About Christie.CS
Christie’s interest in Pilates began in 1994, when she read about the method in a US exercise magazine. In doing some research, she found only one dedicated Pilates Studio in Melbourne – DMA in Prahran (now located in South Yarra). Her first session was life-changing – walking out of the studio, not only did she feel two inches taller, but she also felt so energetic, she could have gone for a very long bike ride!

In 1998 Christie moved to a small town in country Victoria, and started as a participant with Brady's Lifestyle Management not long after the boutique gym and studio opened.  It was here that she was able to develop her skills in the technique, and she eventually completed her Level 1 Mat Instructor Accreditation with Allan Menezes in 2002.

Christie combined her full time office management job with casual mat class instruction for a few years, under the guidance of Murray Brady, who himself was a perfect physiological example of a magnificent Pilates body in the flesh.  Christie's 'extreme' stretches were honed during her time with Murray, as he used to incorporate them within his classes.

Christie and her husband relocated from Victoria to Hobart in March 2006, and commenced casual instruction at Club Salamanca's Reformer Studio, where she met Gin and Mary.  She completed further training in 2007 with Helen Tardent of Pilates Moves and in 2008 once again with Allan Menezes of Pilates Institute of Australasia.

Christie's other life.
Christie has recently opened a "Barre Workout" fitness studio, BarrePlus, in Hobart's CBD. Incorporating super-toning isometric movements with the ballet barre, along with some serious stretches after working large muscle groups to fatigue, the intensive workout is gaining popularity as an excellent addition to many clients current pilates practice.  "Jelly Legs" is a common topic of discussion as clients leave one of Christie's barre classes!

The future.
Christie has in her sights full certification in the world renowned BASI Pilates, which she hopes to complete by the end of 2011.
